Matthew’s own garden at Ivy Cottage is his personal garden design project. The garden had many layers from previous owners with some mature tree and shrub specimens, but it was overgrown and needed a new chapter.
Having put together a masterplan for the site Matthew has been restoring and implementing new areas in the garden in phases and this is an approach he enjoys taking with client’s gardens when the opportunity arises.
The garden includes a studio, natural swimming pond, new terraces, an outdoor kitchen, an exotic firepit garden, a vegetable garden, an orchard and lots of new herbaceous planting in a contemporary cottage garden style.
